WANA (Aug 31) – In the final women’s 10m P2 pistol event at the Paris Paralympic Para Shooting Championships, Sare Javanmardi secured Iran’s first gold medal of the Paris Games.

 

Javanmardi competed against seven other shooters to claim the top spot. She faced a close and intense battle in the final against Aysel Özcan of Turkey.

 

Despite Özcan leading most of the rounds, Javanmardi overtook her in the final rounds and ultimately won with 236.8 points. Aysel Özcan took silver in this competition, and Rubina Francis from India secured bronze.

 

This gold medal marks Sare Javanmardi’s fourth in Paralympic history. Previously, she won a bronze medal at the 2012 London Paralympics, two gold medals in individual and mixed events at the 2016 Rio Games, and another gold at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
